Lamp

The Challenge
Lighting objects often prioritise function over atmosphere, while decorative pieces can lose clarity in form. The challenge of this pendant lamp was to create a lighting object that balances minimal design with warmth and material presence. The aim was to develop a piece that feels both refined and inviting, without unnecessary complexity.

The Concept
The pendant lamp was handcrafted from two precisely cut pieces of premium felt, shaped through an iterative process of sketching, prototyping and refinement. The final form emerges from a subtle twist in the material, creating volume and movement while maintaining a restrained silhouette.

The choice of felt emphasises texture and softness, allowing the light to diffuse gently and produce a warm, ambient glow. Each lamp is assembled by hand, ensuring slight variations in shape and finish. This intentional uniqueness reinforces the object’s character and craftsmanship. The bulb is intentionally not included, offering flexibility for the user to define the tone and intensity of the light.

The Outcome
The result is a statement piece that combines sustainable material use, tactile quality and minimalist aesthetics. More than a functional light source, the lamp introduces warmth and atmosphere into a space. It demonstrates how careful material exploration and formal restraint can result in an object that feels both contemporary and deeply human.
