Trimmloop

Knife

The Challenge
Gardening tools are often designed as separate extensions of the hand, requiring repetitive movements and the constant switching between grasping and cutting. The challenge of Trimmloop was to rethink this interaction. How can trimming become more direct, intuitive and integrated into the natural movement of the body.

The Concept
Trimmloop was developed as a handmade stainless steel garden cutting tool worn around the index finger. Adjustable for both left and right handed users, it allows the gardener to hold the plant with one hand while guiding the blade with the other, removing the need for a traditional garden shear.

The design integrates cutting into the gesture of grasping. By sliding the blade along the stem while holding the greenery, trimming becomes a fluid action. The tool remains minimal in form, focusing on precision, durability and ergonomic comfort. Maintenance is straightforward, with regular sharpening and cleaning ensuring long term use.

The Outcome
Trimmloop transforms gardening into a more seamless and embodied experience. By merging tool and hand, the project simplifies routine tasks and reduces friction in the process of care. It demonstrates how small scale design innovation can refine everyday practices, making them more efficient, tactile and connected to the act itself.
